Jewelry Care

“Sterling Silver jewelry, when cared for properly, can last a lifetime.”

1. Store your jewelry in a dry, airtight bag or container when not in use.

Tarnish is a result of a chemical reaction that occurs when metal is exposed to the sulphur and moisture in the air. Putting your jewelry in a small zip-top bag when not in use versus leaving it in the open on top of your vanity or dresser makes a huge difference! Make sure that your jewelry is always clean. If you plan on storing and not wearing it for a while, wash it first with warm water and mild soap, wipe gently with soft cloth and leave to dry thoroughly before you put it in a bag. Our jewelries come with a small zip-top bag and our Soleil Charms box closes pretty tightly so you can store your precious items the right way!

2. Keep away from household chemicals, perfume, hairspray, lotion, chlorine and salt water.

These chemicals are corrosive, harsh and can damage your jewelry. It is for this reason that it is best to put your jewelry last, after you spray your perfume and after your hair and skin care routine. Do not wear your jewelry when swimming in the ocean, pools and hot tubs. Salt water and chemically treated water can damage your jewelry.

3. Wearing your jewelry often can help prevent tarnishing.

Believe it or not, the more you wear your jewelry the less tarnishing it gets and the less cleaning it needs.

4. Use silver cleaning cloth to remove tarnish and restore shine.

It is inevitable for sterling silver to tarnish but do not fret! It can be easily removed. Use the silver cloth from time to time to remove tarnish and restore shine. Afterwards, wash jewlery with warm water and mild soap and dry thoroughly. All our jewelries come with the silver cloth so you can keep your jewelries bright and sparkly!

5. Can be repolished and replated in yellow or rose gold by your local jeweler.

It is normal wear and tear for the plating to lighten and rub off after some time. Sterling silver can always be replated in gold and professionally polished to remove scratches by your local jeweler. You can have it dipped in 14k or 18k yellow or rose gold and make it look brand new again!
